CONCLUSION

Each of us acts differently. Living in different cultures and believing in different beliefs. To be different makes us of who we are, and makes us unique from anyone. These habits set us of being a true Filipino, these are the practices and cultures in which we differ us and being unique from other races. Even though some of the Pinoy habits and beliefs are seemed to be strange and weird to others, but still no one can change it. Sometimes, we may not notice that we are doing things in our own way, but whatever we practicing are, it is already been a part of our culture. Overall, the Filipino Culture and way of life is something that no one else can change. Filipinos just need to act and practice these things accordingly which are acceptable to everyone. And that what makes us a TRUE FILIPINO.

Piyesta Pinoy

Masskara, Penagbenga, Sinulog, Ati-atihan, are some of those popular festival celebrating by Filipinos. Year round, festivals are celebrated in the Philippines. To celebrate the fiesta is not only a Filipino tradition, it is also one of the main cultural and religious events in the Philippines.

Here in the Philippines, fiestas are celebrating by Pinoys happily and in a unique way. But, why festivals have been practiced in Filipino culture?
According to Oxford dictionary, festivals defined as, a day or period of celebration, typically a religions commemoration; a tabulation of Saints days and other festivals. Filipinos are not only celebrating fiestas for religious occasions, some Pinoys are celebrating this as a purpose to give thanks of their harvest. In this occasion, Filipinos are united as one. This is a time for the whole members of the family, friends and members of the society to bond together.

In the Philippines, celebrating of festivals are not only happening in one particular place.  There is always a fiesta going on somewhere in the Philippines, Cities, Towns, Barangays and even Barrios are celebrating there own fiestas. Since Filipinos are giving a unique way of celebrating fiestas, this is also one of the reasons why local and foreign tourist visited the island. Street dances, processions, parades are some of the highlights attraction of fiesta. In that moment, talents and skills of the members of the society has been shown. Every fiestas have many faces. They usually feature a mass, processions, parades, games and many activities, and that activities completed, they gather to eat and drink together and enjoy the rest of the day.

Also during fiesta, we can see different stores such as Ukay-Ukay (Garage sale), accessories stores and many more. One of the most anticipated part in fiesta is that  having a Fair ground where in everyone can enjoy. This is the place where family and friends gathered to have fun and enjoy the celebration.

We conducted an interview of different people to know what are their opinions on how Filipinos celebrating fiesta.

Interview no.1
Inerviewee: Teh day, kay kita nga Pinoy masinadyahon ta yah. Sadya muh!

According to Mr. Edwin Garse, 43 years old from Talisay City, he imparted to his statement that Filipino has a unique way of celebrating fiesta since Pinoys are simply a happy people.

Interview no.2
Interviewee: Kay tradisyon ta nani day mo. . . . na angdan ta nanu ya. Kag gis-a man lang ni sa isa ka tuig.

According to Mrs: Ninfa Biona, 51 years old, she said that Pinoy has a unique way of celebrating fiestas since it is already part of Filipino culture. And it is an annual celebration, she added.

(We try so hard to have a picture of her for evidence but she won't allow us, so we respect her decision.)

Sometimes, Filipinos are busy for preparing festivals. It is surprising, even though Filipinos facing a lot of challenges in life, they still have a time to manage and celebrate the fiesta. They have a time to participate in various activities and a time to enjoy. After all, a fiesta for Filipinos is a time for family and friends to gather and enjoy the day. Though, Filipinos are celebrating this in a unique way, still festivals are celebrated by Pinoys that symbolizes the happy nature of Filipinos.

That Little Fake

Shopping here, shopping there, and shopping anywhere. No one can stop people from shopping, most especially Filipinos. Kicker Daily News says about 93% of the Filipinos love to do shopping.

According to Lou-Ann Navalta, leader of the Nielsen Shopper Insights said that Filipinos love the act of shopping.

Mobile phones, bags, perfumes, shoes or slippers and etc. are the most vulnerable product when it comes to imitation. Imitation is something that is made or produced as a copy. (Merriam-Webster Dictionary).

Practically speaking, Filipinos love to buy a product that may satisfied they needs or wants.

I conduct an observation one online shop named Wearhaus, who sell phone replica or premium copies of gadgets for 3 consecutive days every 3:00 pm.

On My First Observation (September 15, 2015).

Second Observation (September 16, 2015)

Third Observation (September 17, 2015)

*Based on my observations. I've observed that In buying some stuffs, Pinoys prefer to buy things which they think they can save more such as discount or a Buy one take one order.
Most of Filipinos are the who ask how much the clone phones cost, that will show how interested them to buy that product even though they know it was fake or premium copies.

I also conducted an Interview on How Pinoys thought about fake products. below is the table of my 4 questions with 3 participants.

In the table above, it shows how Pinoys prefer the original than the fake but still they're willing to buy it.

Another observation that I did was Bargain shopping. Bargain shopping has become a trend throughout the country until the Filipino cope with the system. Great example here is the "Biyernesan" of Talisay City, Negros Occidental. Every friday they sell a good bargains to customers. Bags, clothes, shoes and etc. This enables Filipinos to buy products for a very cheap price; most of these items even have imitated signature brands. such as Havaianas, Chanel, Gucci, Burberry and etc.

The bottom line here is no matter what Filipino choose, either Original or Fake, always remember "Its the thoughts that counts". It is all about how the thing they bought could satisfied their needs or wants. The joy that they felt when they're using those products, and it is how Filipino shopping in a unique way.

DRIBOL NG PINOY

Basketball is the most popular sport in the Philippines played on both professional and non-professional people. It is the pastime of people if they got bored. Basketball was able to captivate Filipinos heart. Even though if you are tall or not, as long as you know on how to play basketball, you are fit in in this kind of sport. In the Philippines, men and women were extraordinary when it comes in this game, they were playing basketball in many and unique ways.
Others were playing with no proper jersey, barefoot and no proper places. They were playing basketball even in the streets, under the tree, or in their backyards. Other says, they were playing basketball depending on their mood, and others must prefer to watch only.

I conducted an interview to gather more information and opinions as well, just to know why Filipinos loves to play basketball in a unique way.

First interview

Interviewer: Manong, nga a unique or pinasahi maghampang ang mga Pilipino sa basketball?
Interviewee: Kay ga hampang sila nga mai didikasyon kag buo ang loob.

Interviewee: Maka communicate kag ma understand ang ila background kag makilala ang isa kag isa. Maka physically fit man para hindi dasig masakiton.

--- According to Shan Joseph Banday, 17 years of age from Talisay City. He said, that when it comes of playing a basketball, it helps them to have a lot of friends and basketball helps him to be physically fit and healthy.

-- According to Charity F. Talahuron, a 18 years old from Talisay City, she said, that when it comes in playing basketball, they played their all heart and this is their passion. And basketball also helps her to enhance her skills in this kind of sport.

Third interview

Interviewer: Manong, nga a unique or pinasahi maghampang ang mga Pilipino sa basketball?

Interviewer: Nga a ang mga Pinoy kung maghampang kis a, ga tiniil or wala sapatos?

--According to Arcee Castellani, a 20 years of age from Talisay City. He said, that playing basketball helps him to be physically fit and healthy.

Most Filipino can't afford to buy a simple jersey or even a slippers nor a shoes in order for them to used while playing basketball. Because some of the parents don't have a permanent work and due to financial matter, that is why they can't have the proper attire in playing basketball. Based on my observation, I've noticed that sometimes they were only wearing slippers and others playing this with barefooted

Basketball is one of the most popular game for us. There are people who loves to play this game and there are others who only loves to watch, but here in the Philippines, Pinoys love to do both. Pinoys play this game in different reason and in a different way. Filipinos can do a lot of past time, not only basketball. We have a lot of choices to enjoy. Our traditional game can help us too. Those things can help us to make our life happier and most exciting by laying these in a unique way.

Doble-Double (Repetition of Nicknames #PinoyExclusive)

Toto, Nene, Makmak, Junjun, Tintin, are some of the most popular repeated nicknames in the Philippines. According to Oxford Dictionary, the word nickname was came originally from the word
"aneke-name" , meaning an additional name. They are informal , usually easy to say. Because for other people, uttering the proper name it takes effort.

Filipinos are known as creative in many ways, whether in terms of art, science, music and even giving of nicknames, Pinoys are unique. Some of us doesn't have an idea where our unique nicknames came from and why our parents gave that nickname to us (unless if we gonna ask them), but one thing for sure, this is one of the things that make us unique as a Filipino. Filipinos are fun of giving nicknames, whether it sounds funny, cute or difficult to pronounce, as long as it identifies you.

Some parents make up a repetition of nickname as an endearment in addressing their children, but some have a stories about it. And to have more information regarding this topic, I decided to conduct an interview to a person who has a nickname which is repeated.

First Interview

My first interview was conducted at Talisay City. I interviewed a man that has a Karenderya (a kind of food stall). I'd noticed that the name of his stall is repeated.

Interviewer: The nga-a PaoPao hayu niya nong aw?

*According to Mr. Albert Alonzo,52 years old, that the story behind the nickname of his son Justin is his wife loves to eat siopao, and the name Paopao is came from that word.

Second Interview

Interviewer: Ta , nga-a Per-Pers name ka karenderya mo aw?

*According to Mrs. Rosita Memba, Co-owner of Per-Pers eatery , located in Talisay City, she said, that repeated nickname was got from the real name itself of the owner.

Last Interview

Interviewer: Nga-a  Bokbok hayu mo haw?
Interviewee: (laughing) kay tambok tambok gid ko bi sang una kag asta subong, haha.

*According to Edward Tingson,21 years old,he said that his nickname was based on his physical appearance before.

Our nickname is part of our life. It occupies a large place to distinguish of who we are. It helps to identify ourselves from the others,in similar way, people use this to recognize you. So whether you have a repeated nickname or not, one thing is for sure.... your nickname can say a lot about you!
